Zelbrite helps to conserve water

News release 24th July 2003

With more stringent water restrictions now in force in Melbourne, and water conservation in general now widely recognised as being a critical environmental concern, pool owners will be interested to learn that by converting their pool filters to Zelbrite rather than continuing to use traditional sand as the filtration medium, will result in significant long term savings in water usage.

Because Zelbrite is better able than sand to capture and retain contaminants during filtration, this results in superior filtered water quality, and:

  • Fewer backwash cycles;
  • Less time to complete backwashing and rinsing cycles

Typically, this results in a 25-30% saving in the volume of backwash/rinse water that would otherwise be discharged to drain which, over time, results in a significant positive contribution to conserving precious water resources.

And remember, Zelbrite is specially manufactured from a naturally occurring mineral that is both inert and perfectly safe to use in every pool using a sand-type filter.

Zelbrite is also endowed with very robust physical properties which means it will outlast sand in achieving long term durability.
