Well known pool business personality Peter Rabbidge, last month joined Zelbrite Australia Ltd. as National Zelbrite Sales Manager.

In an interview with Pool & Spa Review, Peter said that after 30 years in the pool industry he had never been so excited about a product as he is by Zelbrite Filtration medium.

"For 15 years or so, I was involved directly with the wholesaling of filtration equipment." he said. "And I know the advantages and limitations of all three types." Everyone agrees that D.E. for example will remove far smaller dirt particles than sand, but most pool owners don't want the ongoing cost and inconvenience of replacing D.E. and cleaning septums. I thought for a while that cartridge filters were the answer, but here again we have the ongoing cleaning procedure which often leads to neglect on the part of the owner.

"Zelbrite provides the perfect answer," Peter continued. "Because it is simply a matter of substituting it for the sand in the filter. As well as filtering down to three microns (compared to 15 with sand and five with D.E), Zelbrite assists in the removal of ammonia, which in turn enhances the performance of the chlorine and reduces odour."

Adding credence to this is Sheila Brooks, the leading child swimming teacher as Bubbles Swim School. "This is an indoor, heated pool which only contains some 60,000 litres, heavy bathing loads tend to make conditions in this water very hostile towards equipment and bathers."

"I have very sensitive skin," Sheila said, "and spending five or six hours a day in the pool, often causes me a great deal of irritation. After just a day or two of changing the sand on our filter for Zelbrite I could notice a great improvement in both the clarity and comfort of the water.

We have about 300 families a week bringing their children for lessons and many of them own pools. I have no hesitation in recommending Zelbrite." she said.
